Introduction to Drawing

This drawing course is directed toward developing the fundamental sketching skills that form the foundation for all subsequent work. Students will explore observational drawing, learning to accurately interpret the world around them, while building an understanding of light and shadow to create depth and form.

A strong emphasis on perspective will be introduced to establish spatial awareness.  Through constructive drawing, students will break complex subjects into manageable forms, and apply principles of composition to create balanced and engaging images.

The course also covers essential materials and techniques, equipping students with the tools needed to confidently approach both representational and imaginative drawing.
