WELDING TECHNOLOGY

ASSOCIATE IN APPLIED SCIENCE  |  DIPLOMA  |  CERTIFICATE

Welding is a great career option for those who want a well-paying career without the cost of a four-year degree. Skilled welders are needed in many career fields like aeronautics, automotive racing, robotics, and even the military. Alamance Community College has a welding technology program designed for you to become ready to enter the workforce.

 

The Welding Technology curriculum provides students with a solid understanding of the science, technology, and application essential for successful careers in the welding and metal industry. We are preparing men and women to be ready for the industrial workforce through classroom and hands-on experience.

***Required Welding PPE***

  • Safety glasses (clear)

  • Leather welding jacket

  • Full cuff gloves and 1 pair work style gloves

  • Work boots 6 inches high minimum required

  • Oxy fuel welding shield (with shade 5)

  • Welding shield (Fibre Metal brand with Omni View, shade 11) or Welding shield with auto darken

  • Tape measure

  • Small flashlight

Graduates will be knowledgeable in, 

  • Consumable and non-consumable electrode welding

  • Cutting processes

  • Blueprint reading

  • Welding Inspection

  • Welding metallurgy skills

  • Oxy-fuel welding

  • Inert gas welding

Welding is a long-used trade for many different factories and repair shops. When students complete this program, they will be ready for full-time employment as entry-level technicians in the welding and metal industry.
