GRAHAM, N.C. — Alamance Community College (ACC) will receive 20 new Lenovo laptops from the Piedmont Triad Regional Council (PTRC) to support students with the college’s NC Boost program, helping expand access to the technology students need to succeed in their coursework and careers.
The donation formally took place the morning of September 28, 2026, on campus. The need for student technology at ACC is significant, and the laptops will be added to the ACC Library's loaner program, increasing the college's laptop capacity so more students can benefit over time.
“Access to technology is no longer optional for our students. It is essential to their success,” said Dr. Ken Ingle, President of Alamance Community College. “This generous donation from the Piedmont Triad Regional Council helps remove a very real barrier for our students and ensures more of them have the tools they need to succeed in the classroom and prepare for their future careers. We are grateful for partners who recognize that investing in our students is an investment in the future of our region.”
The donation also highlights the important role partnerships play in connecting students with resources and creating opportunities that extend beyond the classroom.

It is through strong community partnerships like this that we are able to expand opportunities, remove barriers, and make a greater impact for our students and our region.”
The donation was made possible through PTRC’s Digital Champion Grant funded by the North Carolina Department of Information Technology. “Access to technology can be a significant barrier for students, and we’re proud to help remove that barrier so more students can focus on their education, build digital skills, and move toward successful careers,” said Wendy Walker-Fox, Director of Workforce and Economic Development at PTRC.

The program is free, builds on students' existing financial aid, and never has to be repaid.
