Academic Advising

Mission

ACC advisors teach students to make educational choices to achieve their academic potential and to be full participants in the college’s mission of advancing our diverse population and empowering lifelong learners to succeed as global citizens.

Academic Advising

Academic advising is a collaborative process in which the student and advisor work together to ensure that the student is on track towards their educational and career goals. An academic advisor can assist students by confirming that their program of study aligns with their career goals, empowering students to make the best academic decisions for their unique situation, discussing the course options within a program of study, assisting with course registration and verifying that the student is on track for degree completion.

New and Returning Students

If you are pursuing a degree, diploma or certificate program, you are assigned an academic advisor upon admission to the college. Your academic advisor is an instructor within your designated program. It is very important to meet with your advisor before registering for courses each semester and throughout your program at ACC.

Find Your Academic Advisor

You can find your assigned advisor and their contact information by following these steps:

  • Log in to Self-Service
  • Select “Student Planning”
  • Select “Go To Plan & Schedule”
  • Click on the Advising tab. This will list your advisor’s name and email contact information.

Additionally, you may search for full-time staff and faculty contact information in the ACC Staff Directory.

Having trouble reaching your advisor? Submit an Academic Advising Request Form.
