Welcome to Alamance Community College where your safety is our top priority and we believe that it is a shared responsibility.
Our College Public Safety Team is committed to working with members of the ACC community to provide a safe and secure educational environment that nurtures the academic and social growth of all students. This collaboration begins with students, faculty and staff working together to understand basic safety procedures and reporting any suspicious activity to Public Safety. Our collaboration is not limited to our internal community, but it extends to all of our partnerships in the law enforcement and emergency services community. This allows our department to have a proactive focus toward crime prevention. |

The Department of Public Safety is founded on a philosophy that advocates a proactive rather than a reactive approach to the safety of our campus community. In meeting this approach, the campus Public Safety Department has made a safety brochure available to students, faculty, staff, and visitors. It is of the utmost importance that everyone understands that the maintenance of a safe environment depends on the involvement and cooperation of the entire community, including you.
Safety for students, faculty, and staff are maintained through existing campus policies, procedures, and the deployment of a trained Public Safety staff. Public Safety officers’ duties normally include promoting crime prevention, checking fire equipment, providing safety escorts, actively patrolling hallways, parking lots, public areas, and in general monitoring all campus activities. Officers are provided with communication equipment that places them in direct contact with one another and local law enforcement agencies.
Public Safety officers are selected on the basis of leadership characteristics and the ability to act responsibly on duty. The Public Safety Department is designed to provide additional safety to students, faculty, staff, and visitors while on campus.
