Public Safety

A Message from Public Safety

Welcome to Alamance Community College, where your safety is our top priority, and we believe it is a shared responsibility.

Our College Public Safety Team is committed to working with members of the ACC community to provide a safe and secure educational environment that nurtures the academic and social growth of all students. This collaboration begins with students, faculty and staff working together to understand basic safety procedures and reporting any suspicious activity to Public Safety.

Our collaboration is not limited to our internal community but extends to all of our law enforcement and emergency services community partnerships. This allows our department to have a proactive focus on crime prevention.

Mission

The goal of ACC’s Public Safety Department is to make everyone feel safe while using the College’s facilities. The ACC Public Safety Department provides services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Please report unsafe conditions to Public Safety at:

  •   Main campus (Carrington-Scott Campus) at  336-506-4286
  •   Dillingham Center at 336-506-4300
  •   24/7 Cell Phone at 336-260-9203

The Department of Public Safety is founded on a philosophy that advocates a proactive rather than a reactive approach to the safety of our campus community. In meeting this approach, the campus Public Safety Department has made a safety brochure available to students, faculty, staff, and visitors. It is of the utmost importance that everyone understands that maintaining a safe environment depends on the involvement and cooperation of the entire community, including you.

Safety for students, faculty, and staff is maintained through existing campus policies, procedures, and the deployment of a trained Public Safety staff. Public Safety officers’ duties typically include promoting crime prevention, checking fire equipment, providing safety escorts, actively patrolling hallways, parking lots, and public areas, and monitoring all campus activities. Officers are equipped with communication equipment that places them in direct contact with one another and local law enforcement agencies.

Public Safety officers are selected based on leadership characteristics and the ability to act responsibly on duty. The Public Safety Department is designed to provide additional safety to students, faculty, staff, and visitors on campus.

Further information on the Department of Public Safety, Safety Escort Service, and Parking regulations may be obtained by contacting the campus Public Safety Department in the following ways:
