Alamance Community College and East Carolina University Expand Transfer Opportunities for Students

GREENVILLE, N.C.- Alamance Community College (ACC) and East Carolina University (ECU) are making it easier for ACC graduates to transfer and earn a bachelor’s degree through a new transfer agreement.

This partnership creates clear 2+2 pathways, allowing students to complete an associate degree at ACC and then transfer to ECU to finish a four-year degree. These pathways are designed to help students save time, reduce costs, and move confidently from college to career.

Through the agreement, ACC students transfer into ECU programs, including Industrial Technology, Biotechnology, and Information and Cybersecurity Technology. Many of the credits students earn at ACC count directly toward their bachelor’s degree at ECU, helping them stay on track and avoid repeating coursework.

“Our goal is to make sure students can see a clear path forward,” said Sonya McCook, Vice President of Instruction at Alamance Community College. “This agreement with East Carolina University gives our students more options and more confidence that the work they complete at ACC will carry them toward a bachelor’s degree and a strong career.”

“Graduates from Alamance Community College’s technical and applied programs —including artificial intelligence, biotechnology, computer‑integrated machining, and Mechatronics Engineering Technology — are guaranteed admission into ECU’s Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology program,” said Dr. Stephanie George, ECU’s Interim Dean of the College of Engineering and Technology. “Nearly 40% of our students in the college are transfer students, and partnerships like this one help us build bridges, not barriers.”

The agreement reflects ACC’s ongoing commitment to student success, workforce preparation, and strong partnerships with four-year universities. By working closely with ECU, ACC is helping students take the next step, whether they are entering the workforce or continuing their education.

Students interested in these transfer options are encouraged to meet with an academic advisor to learn more about how the agreement fits their goals.
