Acceptable Use Guidelines

General Use:

1. Current students, former students, and ACC staff and faculty may use the workstations in the ACC Tutoring Center on a first-come, first-serve basis.

2. The College’s Acceptable Use Policy for Computer Workstations and Use of Personal Computer Software statements, and the Learning Resources Center’s Computer Usage Policy, as displayed and found in the ACC Student Handbook, must be followed. Violators will be disciplined according to the Student’s Rights and Responsibilities and Criminal Activity Reporting policies, as found in the ACC Student Handbook.

3. Use of lab workstations for academic purposes is a priority. Use of lab workstations for nonacademic purposes is a privilege and may be denied. Social media access is not allowed, except for academic purposes or by instructor directive.

4a. Black & white printing costs $.10 per single-sided page and $.15 per double-sided page. Color printing costs $.35 per single-sided page and $.69 per double-sided page. Use of lab printer/copier for nonacademic purposes is a privilege and may be denied.

4b. Black & white copying costs $.05 per page. Color copying costs $.10 per page. Use of lab printer/copier for nonacademic purposes is a privilege and may be denied.

5. Each person using a lab workstation and/or a tutoring room must log his/her name, course or reason for using lab services, time in, and time out.

6. Workstation and/or printer/copier problems should be communicated to the lab staff.

7. No food or drink may be placed or consumed at a lab workstation.

Software Installation:

1.System software (e.g. Windows) and/or application software (e.g. Microsoft Office) and the respective versions of each software installed on, or to be installed on, lab computers is the responsibility of the Information Services department.

2. No unauthorized software may be installed on or downloaded to any lab computer.

3. No software may be uninstalled or deleted from any lab computer.

4. Requests for additional or different application software should be submitted to the Coordinator of the tutoring center. The coordinator will determine which requests will be forwarded to the Information Services department.

Workstation Reservation:

1. Current students and ACC staff and faculty may submit a request to reserve a workstation(s) by contacting the Coordinator of the Tutoring Center at least 24 hours prior to time of need. Reservation of a workstation(s) is not guaranteed and will be based on lab usage considerations. Reservation requests for afternoon and evening hours are more easily accommodated.

Room Reservation:

1. Current students and ACC staff and faculty may submit a request to reserve a tutoring room by contacting the Coordinator of the Tutoring Center at least 24 hours prior to time of need. Reservation of a tutoring room is not guaranteed and will be based on lab usage considerations. Reservation requests for afternoon and evening hours are more easily accommodated.

2. Reservation of an entire computer lab should be directed to the Administrative Secretary of Curriculum Instruction.
