Topics include maintenance of flower beds, vegetable gardens, greenhouses, and container and field nursery stock using sound horticultural practices. Upon completion, students should be able to apply the principles and practices of maintaining ornamental landscape plantings.

Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate knowledge of the proper selection and utilization of plant materials, including natives and invasive plants.

Upon completion, students should be able to analyze, evaluate, and properly amend soils/media according to sustainable practices.

This course introduces the specific math concepts and calculations necessary in the turfgrass industry. Emphasis is placed on calibration of equipment used in the application of fertilizers and pesticides and calculation of solid materials used in construction. Upon completion, students should be able to correctly perform basic calculations and calibrations and estimate materials needed in specific professional turfgrass management situations.
