Notary Classes

Waivers/ Scholarships/ Refunds
Classes fill quickly.  Register & pay early to reserve your spot.  There are no waivers, scholarships or refunds for this class.  
Payments
 
All payments for Notary classes should be made over the phone (336-506-4307 or 336-506-4318) or in person at the Dillingham Center location.

Email address
Students should register with a personal email address instead of a work email. Students will need to be able to access class information sent via email outside of normal business hours.

There are multiple locations.  Please take note of your class location.

Class start time
Due to NC Secretary of State mandated course hour requirements, participants arriving late will not be admitted into the class!  Students must be in class by the start time.  We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes early.

Textbooks
 
 
Students MUST have a current textbook (either hard copy or e-book) at class WHEN CLASS BEGINS. 
Students using the e-book, MUST bring a downloaded and viewable copy to class.  The e-book can be downloaded on a PC, tablet or smart phone for viewing.

NC Secretary of State requirements
The NC Secretary of State requires all candidates to speak, read, and write in English. 
Valid Driver's License or Photo ID
Students must bring proof of ID to class.  Valid NC Driver's License or Passport.

Notary Exam/ Course Completion
Students must pass the NC Notary Public exam with a score of 80% or better to complete the class requirements. Students have 1 attempt to pass the exam.
Commission Application and Fees
Students that complete the course are eligible to send a completed application along with $50 to the Secretary of State's office.
Register of Deeds
Students will then receive a letter from the Secretary of State directing them to their local Register of Deeds to be sworn in as a notary. There is a fee of $10.00 for the Register of Deeds.

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be a High School graduate or equivalent
  • Live or work in NC
  • Not be convicted of a misdemeanor or felony, within the last 10 years.
  • The NC Secretary of State requires all candidates to speak, read, and write in English and present a valid government issued photo ID to be admitted to the course.

The Notary Public course is mandated by the North Carolina Secretary of State for individuals interested in obtaining a commission as a Notary Public in North Carolina. Topics covered in class are requirements for collecting fees, general powers and limitations, oaths, and more.   Instructors:  Shelby Dent

Pre-requisites: Student must have a current N.C. notary commission. 

Students must be a current Notary Public before taking this course. Students will need to provide a government issued photo ID and their commission number. Electronic notarization is a process whereby a notary affixes an electronic signature and notary seal using a secure Public key to an electronic document (such as a PDF or Word document).  Instructor: Shelby Dent
