Notary Classes

The Notary Public course is mandated by the North Carolina Secretary of State for individuals interested in obtaining a commission as a Notary Public in North Carolina. Topics covered in class are requirements for collecting fees, general powers and limitations, oaths, and more.

Notary Public Classes

All Notary classes are held on ACC - Dillingham Ctr. Campus, 1304 Plaza Drive, Burlington, NC 27215

  • Register using the "Register Now" buttons. In the "search for sections" box, Type notary to get to the instant enrollment. Be sure to complete all required fields on the registration page.  You should be able to enter credit card information to pay for the class.  If you have trouble registering, please call Vivian at 336-506-4307 between 8 a.m. and noon or Lauren at 336-506-4318 between 1 and 5 p.m.
  • Purchase the required textbook for this class. Students must have the textbook on the first day of class.  Books can be ordered online from ACC Bookstore or from NC Secretary of State Website

Pre-requisites: Student must have a current N.C. notary commission. 

Students must be a current Notary Public before taking this course. Students will need to provide a government issued photo ID and their commission number. Electronic notarization is a process whereby a notary affixes an electronic signature and notary seal using a secure Public key to an electronic document (such as a PDF or Word document).  Instructor: Shelby Dent


    • A workbook is required for this class.  Students must have it in class with them. Purchase the e-notary workbook from the ACC bookstore, at 336-506-4156

    • Students arriving late will not be admitted!

    • Seating is limited... Registration is not complete until payment has been received.  Register and pay early to secure your spot.

  • Be a High School graduate or equivalent
  • Live or work in NC
  • Not be convicted of a misdemeanor or felony, within the last 10 years.
  • The NC Secretary of State requires all candidates to speak, read, and write in English and present a valid government issued photo ID to be admitted to the course.

  You cannot apply for reappointment earlier than 10 weeks before your commission expires.

Real Estate Pre-Licensing - face to face

This course satisfies the education requirements for individuals wishing to become licensed as a provisional real estate broker. Those completing the course may apply for a license ($30 application fee to the Real Estate Commission) and sit for the NCREC state exam ($64 exam fee). Instructor:

  • Students must have the book at the first class. (see textbook tab above for info.)

  • Classes are held at the Dillingham Center.  1304 Plaza Drive, Burlington, NC (Exit 145 off I-40/ I-85)

Real Estate Pre-Licensing Training Course Completion Standards

  • At least 80% class attendance.

Real Estate Continuing Education

In order to renew your license on active status, you must complete eight (8) hours of continuing education (CE) during each “July 1 to June 10” license period.  For more information, please call 336-506-4322 or email dwparker547@alamancecc.edu.  For more continuing education information: https://www.ncrec.gov/Education/General
