CDL Prep
This class will help students gain the knowledge needed to acquire a CDL-B permit. The class will cover benefits of having a CDL, safe driving techniques, CDL requirements, CDL Endorsements and review the CDL handbook including testing tips. NO DRIVING INVOLVED. CDL-B Driving Training
CDL-B Driving
ACC is partnering with Chandler Concrete to offer this training.

Students interested in the CDL training also need to submit an employment application at Chandler Concrete.

Chandler Inc. will interview students in the CDL–B training course for potential employment opportunities. Students selected by Chandler Inc. for employment will be reimbursed for the cost of the course by Chandler.
CDL-B Permit required. This hands on class is designed to teach students to drive Class B vehicles such as dump trucks and concrete vehicles. This program will prepare the prospective driver to understand safety, driver responsibility and also the laws and regulations governing the motor carrier industry. Students MUST have have taken the CDL Prep class through Alamance Community College and have their CDL-B permit prior to registering for this class.

CDL-B permit must be on file with the college before students are scheduled to drive. Call 336-506-4322 for more information.

Students will drive approx. 35-40 hours

Students will learn on both Manual and Automatic Transmissions

Cost of class changes depending on fuel surcharges, approx. cost is $250.
CDL-B Road Test

The CDL-B Road test is taken at Davidson County Community College (Mocksville Campus).

Students are responsible for the cost of the CDL-B exam and any associated fees.

CDL-B exam is $300 paid to Davidson County Community College.
Defensive Driving classes
Which Class should I take?
College staff can not advise students on which class to take. Students should check with their lawyer or the DA's office for their case to determine the class needed.
- DDC4 - 4 Hour class: The 4 hour class is designed for low speeds, stop sign and stop light violations. Topics covered include safety belts, child safety regulations, passing safely, the effect of alcohol and drugs on driving and vehicle laws and regulations.
- DDC8 - 8 Hour class: The 8 Hour class is designed for high speeds, speeding in a work zone, speeding in school zone, all other aggressive driving violations and repeat offenders.
DDC 4 Hour Class
The 4 hour class is designed for low speeds, stop sign and stop light violations. Topics covered include safety belts, child safety regulations, passing safely, the effect of alcohol and drugs on driving and vehicle laws and regulations.
Due to COVID-19, students can currently choose between in person or online options.

DDC 8 Hour class
The 8 Hour class is designed for high speeds, speeding in a work zone, speeding in school zone, all other aggressive driving violations and repeat offenders.

Escort Vehicle Operator (EVO)
Escort Vehicle Certification - 8 Hour course
NCDOT/ Escort Vehicle 8 Hour Beginner Course
This course meets the training requirements that the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) sets to certify oversize-overweight load escort vehicle drivers. To become certified, escort drivers must attend the 8 hour NC Department of Transportation Escort Vehicle Course AND attend a 4 Hr Defensive Driving course that has been approved by the National Safety Council. Basic Rider Course Schedule & Registration
Basic Rider Course
The Basic Rider Course is aimed at beginning riders of all ages. The course consists a mixture of classroom and range time. Practical riding skills are developed in a controlled, off-street environment. The Basic RiderCourse is conducted at a pace that results in successful completion for most novice riders. The RiderCoaches will help you learn to the best of your ability. This course is designed for new riders who have never ridden a motorcycle, and for re -entry riders who have not ridden in a long time. Students that are 16-17 years old must have a signed waiver form completed by a parent or guardian. The course is mandatory for motorcyclists under the age of 18 in the state of NC. Basic Rider Course 2 (Formerly ERC) schedule & Registration
BRC2
Prerequisite: At least 6 months riding experience and 3,000 miles under your belt. The BRC2 is for someone who has been riding for a little while. Students must possess a valid motorcycle license/ motorcycle endorsement. Students must provide a street legal, properly licensed motorcycle and must show proof of insurance. If you normally carry a passenger, you may take the BRC2 with your passenger on board. The Passenger will also need to register and sign the waiver forms. COST FOR THE PASSENGER IS $30.00.
