This course provides instruction related to the core skills used by carpenters in residential and commercial settings. Topics include safety, hand / power tool use, site preparation, measurement and layout, construction framing, and other related topics. General Contractor License Preparation

Pre-requisite: Background in reading and interpreting architectural blueprints.

This course is designed for individuals seeking to become licensed as a general contractor in NC. While the course is not required in order to be eligible to sit for the exam, it is designed to help improve your chances of passing. Course topics discussed that the contractor’s exam covers include licensing requirements, building codes, insurance requirements, pertinent employment laws and blueprint reading. This course is NOT a course on construction techniques and terminology nor does it tell you how to organize subcontractors and schedule construction.
