If you are new to computers, this class is for you. Learn what a computer is and how it functions, the basic parts of a computer, and the various ports and buttons on a computer. Learn about laptops, desktops, tablets, and smart phones. Understand the various operating systems and how they differ. Basic Computer Skills, Level 2 (Intro to MS Office)

This course introduces Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and Power Point) and Google Docs. Google Docs is a free, web-based office suite—Google Drive—that competes with Microsoft Office. Employment Career Assistance Lab

This lab features an open-entry, open-exit format to meet the customized needs of students and agencies who may refer students, including the JobLink career centers, public libraries, and employment security commissions. You will become comfortable with basic computer skills for accessing government and educational resources. You will get assistance in using technology to develop and implement job search strategies, research careers, and develop and compile employment-related documents such as resumes, cover letters, applications, and electronic employment portfolios. This course provides an introduction to a paraprofessional career in the home health industry as a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) also known as home health aide, companion caregiver, companion assistant, etc. The PCA curriculum provides students with an overview of the practical, real-world skills needed to provide non-medical care to the elderly, those with disabilities, and people needing continued non-medical rehabilitation. NCRC Test & Work Keys Testing

ACC is now an official testing site for the National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC). The NCRC consists of three skills tests: applied mathematics, reading for information, and locating information. ACC can also administer other work keys testing.  See the schedule below for pricing.  Call 336-506-4200 for more information. Instructor: Victoria Ringeisen 

  • Due to COVID, all testing is currently done in the evenings from 6-9 pm.

  • Due to COVID, students are required to bring their own headphones or earbuds. 

  • Students are required to register and pay BEFORE testing is scheduled.

  • All tests are given at the Dillingham Center, 1304 Plaza Dr. Burlington

  • Testing is 55 minutes per topic. 

  • Cost is $12/$20 per test.  Please see the schedule below for actual test cost.

  2. Visit myworkkeys.com or call ACT directly at 1-800-967-5539 to set up the account
  3. Log in to their account on myworkkeys.com and print off or reference any and all scores and certificates.

National Career Readiness Certification

Attendance in the online Orientation Sessions is mandatory for enrollment into the class.  Workkeys (National Career Readiness Certificate Prep) class, also known as NCRC. This prep class is designed as an online self-paced course to prepare the learner for sitting in the Workkeys assessment.
