NEW! Arboriculture Certificate (FALL 2021)

This certificate is geared toward training opportunities for those interested in arboriculture or those who are already in the arboriculture industry and would like to expand their knowledge base. This certificate was developed in conjunction with the Alamance Community College, NC Urban Forestry Council, NC State University and F.A. Bartlett Tree Experts. Many topics will be covered such as pest management, introductory and advanced arboriculture, tree climbing, business communications, equipment operation and maintenance, conversational Spanish, and many more!  Call 336-506-4200 or 336-506-4219 for more information.

This class is for homeowners or budding green industry members, and can be completed from the comfort of your own home! You will gain an understanding of how plants are named and classified! After gaining this knowledge, you will start digging in to learn how to identify many of the common landscape plants of central North Carolina. Once you have this knowledge you will be amazed at how many plants you see and know! This 5-week course will have about 2 hours of material presented online each week. Because it’s done asynchronously, there will not be a specific time you are required to sign on during the week, which allows it to fit to your schedule. This class will teach you the ins and outs of many common types of plant propagation, and will cover the differences between sexual and asexual methods for this propagation. You will learn how to successfully begin multiplying your plants easily from within your home. This 5-week course will have about 2 hours of material presented online each week. This class is for homeowners or budding green industry members, can be completed from the comfort of your own home! Students will gain an overview of the design process as well as the design principles and elements used to create a quality residential landscape design. The class will be a great way to start establishing a foundation and broadening your skills in this area. This 4-week course will have about 2 hours of material presented online each week. We will debunk some common landscape myths, and learn the why behind the how. By the end of the course you will have a better understanding of how to get the most from your landscape. Bring all the questions you have been wanting to ask. There will be plenty of time for us to learn from each other’s landscape challenges.
