“Just smile and wave. Smile and wave.” I feel that whatever life throws my way that the best thing to do is just smile and wave.

One quote that I feel represents me is “With great power, comes great responsibility” popularized by the President of Marvel Comics, Stan Lee. As graphic designers we have a lot of power with what we design and how it is marketed to people, and it is my responsibility to make sure that the design is something I believe in and has a positive affect on the people who it is being marketed to. I will always choose to be the good guy or hero and help people never straying from my moral and ethical principles to expand my own personal gains.

“I never lose, I either win or I learn.” – If I want something, I will do what is necessary to get it done, and if I make a mistake along the way I will learn from it and will not repeat it. I find this to be the easiest way to move forward, and this quote explains it perfectly.

One quote that gives me inspiration is “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.” This quote is by Steve Jobs and it’s really inspirational to me and I can connect to it because after I realized that helping animals wasn’t really a field I would be comfortable in, I had to find what I truly loved doing, and I did.

Christian Isley

“Everybody is a book of blood; whenever we are open, we’re red”-Clive Barker. I have always found Clive to be my idol in the art world. His creations are very unique and vivid. He has also made a few games, one called “Undying,” which I have played over and over through the early years of my childhood. I grew up with his movies and games and hope that one day I can grow up to be a great artist and visionary like him.

Diana Agosto

“Do what makes you happy, and stop caring what others think.” –Unknown. This quote describes my personality because I don’t go around looking to please others, and nor do I really care what is said about me. The reason for things being this way is once you focus all that time and effort being what you aren’t and being extra careful to try and make sure to fit in with what is society says is ‘normal’, people are still going to be mean to you, it’s a fact of life. This fact of life inspires me a lot because it reminds to forget to care what people say about me and live life freely. Art is freedom; it’s that freedom to be yourself and no matter how people look at art, it starts with who you are.

Elizabeth Steinbruegge

“The past can hurt. But you can either run from it, or learn from it,” said Rafiki, Lion King. This quote relates to me because I try to be a positive thinker. It inspires me because I can either dwell on the past or learn from my mistakes and move forward.

Hilda Navarro

I would have to pick Apple’s “Think Different” because to me it’s saying to think outside the box and be diverse. I’ve learned that people who stand out are the ones who make a mark, who create and discover, who learn the openness of exploration and invention without limits.

Melvin Moore

“Time is moving forward not backwards…with each passing day and each passing hour, minute, and second we are losing an opportunity of doing something great…so why not go and grab your future?” The connection I have with this quote is that its something that I told my friend when he asked me for advise on his relationship. I told him this, and I continued to say, life is too short to be stuck in one place you feel is comfortable, but at the same time having problems with. You can exploit your opportunities or let them dry up. Ask yourself “where do I want to be in life?”

“Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds that you plant”-Robert Louis Stevenson. You will never know what outcomes life can bring you by the end of the day, but the starting process is what really matters as it is always the foundation where you will keep on building for the rest of your life. If you create a great design setup, then you will produce a really perfect piece of artwork.

Pedro Sosa

“Never give up on yourself. If you do, you’ll give up on your dreams.” I want my dreams to become reality where I can tell people and show I have achieved this much success and to give not just inspiration to me but to my family, mostly my younger siblings.

Ronnie Staton

“Every production of an artist should be the expression of an adventure of his soul.” said W. Somerset Maugham. I believe this is true because every piece of art is an adventure of the artist.

Sergio Velasquez

Creativity and imagination on are the key successes to accomplish wild dreams and courageous goals in life. Its an exciting way I look at the future and artistic vision.

Taylor Wilson

My all time favorite quote is “Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.” –Babe Ruth. My connection with this quote is everyone around me always tells me to go for what I want to do in life. I have never once had someone in my life tell me not to fulfill my dreams. I have always had the biggest support group of all time. There have been some times that I thought I could not do something and they stood by me and never let me “strike out.”

Thomas Honeycutt

“All I can do is be me, whoever that is.” – Bob Dylan. I like that there are things about me that I don’t know, and that who I am is subject to change.

I have two that I would say best describes my personality, “Eddie would go” and “Enjoy the ride.” “Eddie would go” is a popular Hawaiian phrase that means the willingness to take risks and do the right thing, even if it’s scary. Eddie Aikau was a well-known surfer and lifeguard for his brave efforts saving lives in the most dangerous conditions. “Enjoy the ride” is based on the journey to your destination. Whether it’s an actual location or just a life goal you have set. Life can be overwhelming, and sometimes you just have to sit back and enjoy the ride!
