Alamance Community College staff members, representatives from area employers, and middle school girls recently participated in a networking event for women of all ages interested in STEM, agriculture, and skilled trades.
She Belongs Fest was an event that focused on the topic of empowering women to explore industries traditionally occupied by men, such as science, engineering, manufacturing, and agriculture.
Featured speaker was MayCay Beeler, a local TV personality, a record-breaking private pilot, and author of the non-fiction book Buccaneer. She reminded her audience that “a woman’s place is in the cockpit,” or wherever else her goals take her.
She Belongs Fest participants included Chapel Hill Tire; GKN Driveline; Alamance Community College programs Horticulture Technology, Computer-Aided Drafting, Computer-Integrated Machining, Information Technology, Automotive Systems Technology; and the ACC STEM Club.
