(April 6, 2022) – Maureen Sherbondy, English Instructor and editor of the Alamance Community College literary magazine, The Explorer, publicized her new volume of poetry at The AWP Conference & Bookfair in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on March 25.

The Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP) Conference and Bookfair is the annual destination for writers, teachers, students, editors, and publishers of contemporary creative writing. It includes thousands of attendees, hundreds of events and book fair exhibitors, and four days of essential literary conversation and celebration.

“I attended several panels related to teaching writing and on different types of writing,” said Sherbondy. “It was an amazing experience to attend a conference of 6,000 writing professionals. The highlight was when I got to read on the main bookfair stage with other writers.”

Sherbondy’s 11th book of poetry will be released on April 12. The volume titled Lines in Opposition will be published by Unsolicited Press (Oregon).

Sherbondy has been an instructor at ACC since 2017. She has an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Queens College in Charlotte.
