The Alamance Community College Foundation is participating in Giving Tuesday Now, a newly-created event on May 5 to help the local community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since 2012, Giving Tuesday has been an annual global generosity movement designated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, that enables individuals and organizations to help the community in which they live and serve. With the advent of the COVID-19 crisis, Giving Tuesday Now was created to do the same on May 5.
The ACC Foundation is asking the community to donate to its Student Distress Fund during the Giving Tuesday Now event. Many students who historically need assistance to pay for car repairs or a utility bill, are facing larger financial hurdles during the pandemic. By making a contribution to the Student Distress Fund, donors can make a difference in the lives of ACC students by providing emergency funding to keep their focus on their studies.
Gifts are tax-deductible, and any donation amount can make a difference to the immediate needs of students.
“The Alamance Community College Foundation is pleased to be a part of Giving Tuesday Now,” said Carolyn Rhode, Executive Director. “At ACC, we are proud of the students we train to be on the front lines and integral to the local economy. Many of our past graduates are serving now in health care, transportation, manufacturing, law enforcement and more during this difficult time.”
