College To Host Young Women for Annual ‘GIRLS TAKE OVER TECH’ Dec. 11

girls take over techAlamance Community College will host the annual ‘Girls Take Over Tech’ event – a STEM showcase for middle and high school girls and their parents – on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2019 from 5:30-7:00 p.m.

The event will be in the College’s Advance Applied Technology Center (AATC), located at campus entrance #4 at 1247 Jimmie Kerr Road. The Office of Institutional Advancement coordinates the National Science Foundation-funded event.

The open house is an opportunity for middle and high school girls and their parents to learn about careers in advanced manufacturing and the trades with local companies.

Female ACC students and local professionals will demonstrate equipment and provide hands-on learning opportunities in the fields of Mechatronics, Industrial Systems and Maintenance, Automotive, Welding, CAD, Machining, HVAC and related fields.

Girls should wear closed-toe shoes and long pants in order to fully participate in all the activities.

The event runs from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a program at 6:00 p.m.  Light refreshments will be served.
