ACC Hosts Annual ‘State of Alamance’ Panel Discussion

Alamance Community College hosted the largest crowd yet for the annual State of Alamance panel discussion on August 9.

panelists and speakerSponsored by the Triad Business Journal, the event kicked off with a keynote address from (above) Allen Gant Jr., the chairman of Glen Raven Inc. Mr. Gant told the VIP audience of CEOs, presidents, and directors of community agencies and companies about what it takes for Alamance County to be competitive not just in the next few years but for decades to come.

A panel then discussed keys to preparing a talented, sustainable and innovative workforce for the future. The guests were Dr. Connie Book, President of Elon University; Tracey Grayzer, President of Impact Alamance; Traci Butler, Senior Vice President of LabCorp; and Vicki Moran, Interim President of Alamance Regional Medical Center.

Their conversation heavily emphasized education, from early adolescent programming to post-secondary education, while also tackling the impact of social determinants such as poverty and healthcare.
