Full-Time Positions

POSITION:         Coordinator Academic Advising Center

LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT:    12- month contract

SALARY:       Based on College’s salary plan, commensurate with

education and work experience. Starting Salary Range:  $3595 - $4350

DATE OF EMPLOYMENT:  October 1, 2010, or as soon as possible thereafter.

QUALIFICATIONS:   Required: Masters Degree in Counseling, Adult Education,

or related area; two years experience working with students in an advising or

academic counseling capacity; good interpersonal and communication skills;

organizational skills and creativity to develop programming.

Preferred: experience working with community college students; computer skills

including word, power point, spreadsheet and work with student databases.           

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Leadership, organization, and management of the college’s

Academic Advising Center to include: academic advising and registration, counseling

for change of major, retention efforts, career counseling, transfer information,

coordination with faculty for registration staffing in center, student online assistance,

and related student services activities.

POSITION:         Psychology Instructor, Full-time Temporary

LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT:                 9- month contract

SALARY:       Based on College’s salary plan, commensurate with

education and work experience. Starting Salary Range: $4,328-$5,035/monthly

DATE OF EMPLOYMENT:  August 9, 2010 or as soon as possible thereafter.


QUALIFICATIONS: Required: A master’s degree in psychology or a master’s degree + 18 graduate credit hours in psychology, and teaching experience. Degree and coursework must be from a regionally accredited institution. Preferred: Community college or university teaching experience in psychology; experience teaching online courses; familiarity with the Blackboard and Moodle course management systems. Applicants should be qualified through education and work experience to teach a variety of courses in psychology including, but not limited to, General Psychology and Developmental Psychology.

                                           

RESPONSIBILITIES:     Teach psychology courses in both the university transfer and Associate in Applied Science degree areas as assigned both on and off campus. This instructor will assist with the development of course objectives, advise university transfer students, serve on college committees, and assume other reasonable duties as assigned by supervisors. Work hours may include both day and evening assignments.

POSITION:         Selective Program Specialist

LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT:                 12 - month contract

SALARY:       $3276 - $3963 per month, based on education and experience

DATE OF EMPLOYMENT:  September 1, 2010, or as soon as possible thereafter, pending availability of funds.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Required: Masters Degree in counseling or related field; strong technical and organizational abilities; effective communication and interpersonal skills and ability to multi-task in a busy office environment.  Preferred: Experience in a community college setting.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The position is responsible for the identification, tracking, and ranking of qualified applicants for admission to selective programs of study.  Other duties include general admissions counseling, recruitment activities, and student advising and registration.

POSITION:   Part-time Instructor -Huskins Program - Business Administration and Marketing Courses


DATE OF EMPLOYMENT:   August 23, 2010  - This position follows the ABSS calendar

QUALIFICATIONSRequired:  BS in Business Administration or related field and teaching experience.  Preferred:  Master of Business Administration, Marketing or Business Education, or a master's degree in a related field plus 18-graduate semester hours in Business Administration.  Experience teaching in a High School or Community College setting is a plus.  Coursework must be from a regionally accredited institution.

POSITION:     Teacher Assistant, Child Care Center

LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT:      Part-time Contract.   Hours: M-F 8am-1pm

SALARY:   Based on College’s salary plan, commensurate with education and work experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:   Required: Must be 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED, possess the early childhood credential. Current medical exam, TB skin test and a criminal records check is required upon hire. Preferred:  2 years of experience in a licensed child care center and certified in CPR and First Aid.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Required: Current unrestricted license as a registered nurse in

North Carolina; a baccalaureate, and master’s degree one of which must be in nursing,

or enrolled in a master’s program; and a minimum of two calendar years prior

employment as a RN in direct patient care. 

Preferred: Direct knowledge and experience in medical-surgical nursing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Supervise, evaluate and monitor students’ learning and

experiences during clinical rotations.

POSITION:         Part – Time Animal Care and Management Instructor

LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT:    by semester

SALARY:       Based on College’s salary plan and commensurate with

education and work experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:   Required: Associate’s degree in a related field with at least two years of general animal care, health care, and restraint experience combined. Applicant must be moderately flexible with scheduling.  Preference given to candidates with: instructional background, advanced education and skills related to multiple species care and restraint including avian, reptiles, companion, lab, agricultural, and exotic animals. 

 RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary duties include instruction of ACM classes; specifically Huskins classes in the local high schools, ACM 110 Introduction to Animal Care & Management, ACM 211 Applied Animal Behavior, and ACM 210 Laws Pertaining to Animals.
