Full-Time Positions

POSITION:   Information Services – Administrator, Colleague/IIPS

LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT:     12 - month contract

SALARY:     Based on College’s salary plan, commensurate with education and

work experience. Starting Salary Range: $3,915 - $4,738 (monthly)

DATE OF EMPLOYMENT:  April 15, 2010 or as soon as possible thereafter.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Required: Associate’s degree with emphasis in information systems, networking, and computer programming, supplemented by three (3) years experience and/or training that includes computer experience with community college software, UNIX, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Preferred: Direct experience with Datatel Colleague, UNIX, and/or NC/IIPS systems; familiarity or experience with Solaris, and/or AIX Operating Systems, Novell, Netware, CISCO, Moodle and Blackboard, Linux, server creation and management, backup/recovery, and email systems (GroupWise and Google).

RESPONSIBILITIES:  This position reports to the Director of Information Services. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Sharing administration of the Datatel Colleague system, the College’s enterprise resource platform which includes WebAdvisor functionality.
  • Managing security, backup/recovery, generating reports, and assisting users with related hardware and software problems.
  • Providing assistance and backup for other departmental duties. Information Services manages, administers, and utilizes the following: Novell, GroupWise, ZEN works, server hardware/software, PC hardware/applications, Moodle, Blackboard, Linux, Solaris OS, and other systems. Information Services also manages the College’s website. 
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Director of Information Services.
  • Some night and weekend work is required.

POSITION:         Instructor, Computer Information Technology


LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT:      9 - month contract


SALARY:       Based on College’s salary plan, commensurate with education and

                     work experience. Starting Salary Range: $4,530 - $5,778 /monthly


DATE OF EMPLOYMENT:  August 9, 2010, or as soon as possible thereafter.


QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Master's degree in computer information technology or computer science, or a master's degree and 18 graduate hours in computer information technology or computer science; two years work experience in the computer information technology field; one year teaching experience. Preferred: Teaching experience at the community college level; experience with word processing, spreadsheets, databases, operating systems, hardware, and systems analysis.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach assigned classes including, but not limited to introduction to computers, hardware/software support, information systems business concepts, and systems analysis and design. Serve on college committees, advise students, represent the college in the community and provide assistance in state organizations. Teaching assignments may include day, evening, weekend and online classes.

                                           

REQUIRED: Applicants for full-time faculty positions are to submit a statement on their philosophy of teaching and learning as it relates to the community college setting. Applicants called for an interview will be requested to present a fifteen-minute lesson on a subject chosen by the screening committee.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Master's degree in computer information technology or computer science, or a master's degree and 18 graduate hours in computer information technology or computer science; two years work experience in the computer information technology field; one year teaching experience; CCNA certification or the ability to attain the certification within the first year of employment. Preferred: Teaching experience at the community college level; experience with the design, installation, configuration, and management of network infrastructure technologies and network operating systems.   

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Teach assigned classes including, but not limited to introduction to computers, networking basics, routing and switching, network design, networking project and Linux/UNIX single user and administration or Windows single user and administration. Serve on college committees, advise students, represent the college in the community and provide assistance in state organizations. Teaching assignments may include day, evening, weekend and online classes.

POSITION:         Coordinator/Instructor, Business and Industry Services

LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT:                 12 - month contract

SALARY:    Based on College’s salary plan, commensurate with education and

work experience.   Starting Salary Range: $4,128 - $4,995 /monthly

DATE OF EMPLOYMENT:  April 5, 2010, or as soon as possible thereafter pending availability of funds.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Bachelor's degree in Adult Education, Business Administration, Economics, Industrial Technology, or a related field; Six Sigma Black Belt Certification; supplemented by two (2) years previous college teaching experience in related business/industry curriculum and experience coordinating training projects.  Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina driver's license. Preferred:  Master's degree and Master Six Sigma Black Belt Certification.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Provide instruction for and coordinate various business/industry related courses and activities following under the Customized Training Program, Occupational Extension, and Self-Supporting areas of the Business/Industry Services Division of Alamance Community College.

Responsible for instructing in the following areas:  Industry Math; Blueprint Reading; Statistical Process Control; Industrial Gauging; Dimensioning and Tolerancing; Hydraulics and Pneumatics; Microsoft Word/Excel; Minitab; Problem-Solving; Communication; Change Management; Kaizen/Lean; Six Sigma.

Also responsible for coordinating training programs, including the development, coordination, administration, and auditing of courses set up for the Business and Industry Community.
