Full-Time Positions

POSITION:    Instructor, Biology


LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT:    9 - month contract.


SALARY:       Based on College’s salary plan, commensurate with

                     education and work experience.

                     Starting salary range: $4,328-$5,035 (month)

                    

DATE OF EMPLOYMENT:   August 10, 2009, or as soon as possible thereafter.


QUALIFICATIONS: Required: A master's in Biology or a master’s degree + 18 graduate hours in biology.  Degree and coursework must be from a regionally accredited institution. Must have teaching experience. Preferred: Community college or university teaching experience, and good computer skills.


RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach assigned courses, including, but not limited to, General Biology I & II, Human Anatomy & Physiology I & II, Microbiology, and Environmental Biology. This instructor will also advise students, serve on college committees, and assume other duties as assigned by the respective Associate Dean. Work-schedule may include day and evening assignment.  


REQUIRED: Applicants for full-time faculty positions are to submit a statement on their philosophy of teaching and learning as it relates to the community college setting. Applicants called for an interview will be requested to present a fifteen-minute lesson on a subject chosen by the screening committee.

Preferred: Teaching experience at a community college and experience teaching online with Blackboard and/or Moodle. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: Instructor will teach English classes in both university transfer and developmental areas, as assigned. Serve on various college committees and advise university transfer students. Assume other responsibilities and duties as assigned by either the department head and/or the Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences. POSITION:  Professional Development Coordinator, Early Childhood Department

EMPLOYMENT:  Eleven-month contract, Full Time Temporary position. Funding for this position is based on grant money provided by the Alamance Partnership for Children. (Benefits include paid holidays. Vacation days, sick days, retirement and health care benefits not included.)

SALARY:  Salary range is $3578-$4220 per month. Commensurate with education and work experience.

DATE OF EMPLOYMENT:   August 1, 2009, or as soon as possible thereafter pending availability of funds.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, or a related field.  Knowledge of child care rules, regulations, and best practices.  Good computer skills.  Two years of work experience in the early childhood field.   Preferred: Experience in a community college setting, and experience working in a licensed child care facility.  A statement of good health and a negative TB test within the past year are required upon employment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  The duties of the Professional Development Coordinator (PDC) include but are not limited to advising the child care providers in Alamance County, helping students in applying for financial aid which may include T.E.A.C.H., Pell Grant, and/or scholarships, basic skills development, and increasing technology skills to be able to utilize the distance learning courses. The PDC is responsible for managing the lending library and the laptop computers, currently owned by Alamance Partnership for Children (APCI) and is responsible for completing monthly, quarterly, and annual grant reports.  The PDC reports to the department head for early childhood education at ACC, coordinates services with APCI, and participates in staff meetings of both organizations.  Local travel to child care facilities throughout Alamance County is required.  There will be evening and possible weekend work.

Automotive Instructor

Part-time instructor needed to teach non-credit courses in the Continuing Education Division.   Courses: Automotive Training, from 8 a.m.-12 noon or 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 noon during the 2009-Fall semester.

Requirements:  High-school grad, plus five years experience teaching and/or tutoring automotive subjects.  Preferred:  Associate's Degree plus experience developing curriculum and teaching adults with special needs.
