POSITION: Professional Development Coordinator, Early
Childhood Department
EMPLOYMENT: Eleven-month contract, Full Time Temporary position. Funding for
this position is based on grant money provided by the Alamance Partnership for
Children. (Benefits include paid holidays. Vacation days, sick days, retirement
and health care benefits not included.)
SALARY: Salary range is
$3578-$4220 per month. Commensurate with education and work experience.
DATE OF EMPLOYMENT: August 1, 2009, or as
soon as possible thereafter pending availability of funds.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood, Child Development,
or a related field. Knowledge of child
care rules, regulations, and best practices.
Good computer skills. Two years
of work experience in the early childhood field. Preferred:
Experience in a community college setting, and experience working in a licensed
child care facility. A statement of good
health and a negative TB test within the past year are required upon
employment.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties of the
Professional Development Coordinator (PDC) include but are not limited to
advising the child care providers in Alamance County, helping students in
applying for financial aid which may include T.E.A.C.H., Pell Grant, and/or
scholarships, basic skills development, and increasing technology skills to be
able to utilize the distance learning courses. The PDC is responsible for
managing the lending library and the laptop computers, currently owned by
Alamance Partnership for Children (APCI) and is responsible for completing
monthly, quarterly, and annual grant reports.
The PDC reports to the department head for early childhood education at
ACC, coordinates services with APCI, and participates in staff meetings of both
organizations. Local travel to child
care facilities throughout Alamance
County is required. There will be evening and possible weekend
work.
