ACC President Algie Gatewood is participating this spring in North Carolina State University’s Executive Mentorship Program, acting as a mentor to three doctoral students enrolled in the Adult and Community College Doctorate of Education degree (Ed.D) program.

In April 2018, a legislative visit was arranged for the students with NC State Senator Rick Gunn to achieve one of the program’s objectives to expose them to leadership in action.

Senator Gunn led a discussion about the relationship between the legislature and the community college system. Together with Dr. Gatewood, Senator Gunn explained the model of how a president meets with his local representative to advocate for budget and funding for his college.
