Library Instruction Sessions

Library instruction sessions, taught in a computer lab by a librarian, include a hands-on demonstration of the library catalog and research databases, including NC LIVE, along with a discussion and demonstration regarding evaluation of web sites. They may also include instruction to help students develop effective research strategies or to learn how to use discipline-specific resources, such as Literature, Nursing, or History databases.

Instructors may request specialized sessions which concentrate on research in a particular subject area. All instruction sessions should be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Contact the Reference Librarian at (336) 506-4208, or fill out a form at the circulation desk to request a session. Please attach a copy of your syllabus.

Research Classes in the Library

Instructors are asked to notify the library 24 hours in advance before bringing classes to the library to do research.

Online Research

Please go to the library's Tutorials & Orientations pages for an online library orientation and for help with online research.

Library Tours

Library tours and orientations are available to any class, depending on availability of library staff. Please contact the library at 506-4116 at least one week in advance to schedule a tour.
