NC Career and College Promise Program


The Career & College Promise (CCP) program allows qualified high school juniors and seniors in North Carolina the opportunity to pursue college courses (tuition free) while in high school.  The following ACC pathways of study are for eligible high school students:


College Transfer Pathways

Humanities and Social Science*

Business and Economics*

Engineering and Mathematics*

 

*Testing requirements must be met in order to be eligible for pathway

 

Career Technical Education (CTE) Pathways

Advertising & Graphics Design:  Photography

Advertising & Graphics Design:  Videography

Animal Care and Management*

Automotive

General Business and Marketing*

Carpentry

Computer Information Technology

Computer-Integrated Machining

Cosmetology

Criminal Justice*

Culinary*

Early Childhood Education*

Elementary Education*

Horticulture

Medical Assisting*

Medical Coding and Billing Insurance

Healthcare Clerical

Medical Transcription

Linux/Unix

Windows NT

Students may only take courses in their approved pathway of study.  The following link lists the ACC courses available in each pathway:  Pathway Courses


Eligibility Requirements

 

In order to be eligible for a College Transfer pathway, students must:


  • Be a high school junior or senior.
  • Have a weighted GPA of 3.0 or higher on high school courses.
  • Demonstration of college readiness in reading, writing, and math on a state-approved assessment test. (College Transfer Placement Guide)

In order to be eligible for a Career Technical Education pathway, students must:


  • Be a high school junior or senior.
  • Have a weighted GPA of 3.0 or higher on high school courses or have the recommendation of the high school principal/principal’s designee.
  • Meet the required pathway testing requirements, if applicable. (CTE Master Placement Testing Guide)


Admissions/Registration Procedures for New Students

 

Note:  CCP options are listed at the END of the programs of study list on the application.

 

  • Complete the appropriate CCP eligibility verification form below.  Eligibility verification forms must be completed by Principal (or Principal’s designee) and returned to Elizabeth Brehler, Director of Enrollment Management.

 

College Transfer verification
CTE verification (ABSS campus)

CTE verification (ACC campus)



  • Submit official high school transcript (for private and home school students only).

Important Dates for Fall 2012

 

March 28       

CCP parent information session at 5:00 pm in the ACC auditorium

 

May 1             

Verification forms due to ACC Admissons Office for new students taking courses on ACC’s  campus (for priority registration on May 8)

 

May 8             

Priority registration for new and returning CCP students taking courses on ACC’s campus (4:00 pm in the Academic Advising Center)

 

June 15           

Verification forms due to ACC Admissions Office for students taking courses on the high school campus

 

August 1          

Registration ends for CCP students for Fall 2012 semester

 

August 6          

Orientation (9:00 am) for CCP students taking courses on ACC’s campus
