Alamance Community College has a strong
commitment to providing the training needed by emergency services personnel to
both satisfy regulatory requirements and to improve their ability to function
in the field. We have dedicated staff with substantial field experience
responsible for assuring that our offerings are timely, and pertinent to the
needs of agencies and employees.

We are approved by the N.C. Criminal Justice Commission and
the N.C. Sheriff’s Standards to deliver initial certification for police and detention
officers, in-service training for law enforcement, sheriff’s deputies,
detention officers, and telecommunicators.

ACC is accredited by the N.C. Fire and Rescue Commission to
deliver certification testing in the following areas: firefighter, emergency
vehicle driving, fire and line safety educator, hazardous materials, driver
operator, rescue technician, pumps and aerial instructor.

ACC is credentialed by the N.C. Office of EMS as an advanced
education institution, with approval to conduct initial and continuing
education training for Emergency Responder, EMT-Basic, EMT-Intermediate,
EMT-Paramedic, and Emergency Medical Dispatch.

BLET- Spring 2010

The BLET course is required for persons wishing to become a law enforcement officer (police, sheriff deputy, highway patrol officer, etc). To take the course, an individual must be able to pass a background check, be sponsored by a law enforcement agency, be able to pass a physical (medical) exam, be a high school graduate, and be able to document a minimum of a tenth grade reading level. To be a law officer, a person must also be at least 20 years of age.

The spring course dates have not been firmly established at this time, but will likely begin in March, 2010. At this time, whether this class will be a day or evening class has not been finalized. Typical daytime class hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., while evening class hours are typically Monday through Thursday from 6-10 p.m. plus weekends. A daytime class usually takes 4 months to complete; evening program takes about 7 months to finish.

EMT-Basic Initial and Recredential Daytime Class

Class will begin on December 1, 2009 and meet M-Th from 900--1800 and will end January 2010.  For information contact Toni Roberson at 336-506-4299 or email roberto@alamancecc.edu

EMT-Basic Continuing Education

Meets the 4th Wednesday of each month from 1830--2200.  You may enter the class at anytime.  For Information contact Toni Roberson 336-506-4299 or roberto@alamancecc.edu

EMT-Intermediate Initial and Recredential--Oct-Feb 2010

Prerequisite EMT-Basic. Class will begin on October 20, 2009 to February, 2010  This class will meet on TTH from 1830--2200 and meet 1 weekend per month.  For further information or to register for the class please contact Toni Roberson 336-506-4299 or roberto@alamancecc.edu

EMT-Paramedic Intial and Recredential

October 19, 2009 to July 30, 2010  class will meet MW nights from 1830--2200 and 1 SASU month from 800-1700. Prerequisites EMT-Intermediate and A&P for EMS.  For information contact Toni Roberson 336-506-4299 or roberto@alamancecc.edu

2009 FALL Fire Academy: August 31 - November 27, 2009

Class meets Monday through Friday from 0700 until 1700.
Physical Fitness Training begins at 7 AM at the Burlington Fire and Police Training Center
Academic classwork begins at 9 AM at ACC Burington Center and Various Fire Departments.

Students must have a physical examination by their own health care provider, plus demonstrate reading proficiency at the 10th grade level. Orientation, registration and physical fittness testing for prospective students will be on Saturday August 15, 2009 Beginning at 8:30 AM the Burlington Fire Police Training Center.

Class size is limited to a maximum of 24 students, so register early.  Contact Jan Vass at 336-506-4316 and leave your information on her voice mail if you are unable to speak with her.

Registration fees for all or any part of this course are waived if you are already a volunteer or career firefighter.

Firefighters who need to take individual subjects to complete their certification are welcome to attend.
